As a purely volunteer-run organisation, we understand the value of a helping hand. Whether you're interested in administration, social media support, or lending a hand with food deliveries, there are countless ways for you to make a meaningful impact. We warmly welcome new volunteers who share our love for dogs and our commitment to making a difference.
How we work
We don't have a central base, so we have a mix of Whangārei-based volunteers doing hands-on work with our food support programme, while the rest of the team works remotely from their home when it suits them best.
Regardless of your location, you can contribute to improving the lives of dogs across Whangārei and Kaipara.
If you join our team, you'll have the full support of our diverse and passionate people.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life - creating a dynamic and supportive community united by a shared love for dogs.

Administration
From booking desexing appointments to managing inquiries and assisting with accounts, our admin volunteers play a crucial role in keeping operations running smoothly. Work can be done remotely, allowing flexibility in your schedule. If you're proficient with Gmail, Google Docs, or Xero, or have expert admin skills, we'd love to hear from you!
Volunteer Drivers
Our volunteer drivers use their vehicles to transport food and supplies to various locations in Whangārei, Kaipara, and even from Auckland. Pick-up runs are typically 1-2 times a month, accommodating your availability. We can assist with petrol costs if needed.
Fundraising
Organise various fundraising activities and assist with donor management as part of our fundraising team.
Event Volunteers
Spread the word about our life-saving work and contribute to fundraising and awareness initiatives as an Event Volunteer.
Social media
If you love Facebook and Instagram, we would love a helping hand to keep our pages fresh and answer queries via messenger.
Graphic Design or Website Development
Design volunteers create advertisements for dogs seeking new homes and material to promote our community projects. They also help manage our website. If you're skilled with Wix or Canva, and have a keen design eye, we'd love your expertise.
